Rediffusion at 70
Transdiffusion’s new book of publicity and internal material from London’s weekday ITV
Associated-Rediffusion/Rediffusion, London turns 70 this year – along with Independent Television as a whole.
To celebrate, Transdiffusion have put together a colourful 100+ softback book crammed with rarely seen internal and publicity material published by Rediffusion when it was London’s weekday ITV. Starting with the first night’s programmes and going through to the chairman’s final statement to shareholders, the book covers everything from schools programmes to the weird letters Muriel Young received; from Double Your Money to No Hiding Place; from documentaries on France and Czechoslovakia to programmes giving tips on making the most of your boat (no, honestly).
The book costs £10 and we’re running a worldwide fundraising campaign on Indiegogo throughout January to get the money for printing in February and distribution in March.
But wait! There’s more!
To celebrate ITV70, for an additional £10 you can get not only the book but a pack containing reprints of three brochures given to studio audiences at ATV in the 1950s, Rediffusion in the 1960s, and Thames in the 1970s. Plus a reprint of the first edition of ATV staff newspaper from 1961.
The campaign runs until 31 January 2025 and we will print the orders we receive (it’s not a limited edition, just a limited sales window).
Visit the project’s Indiegogo to find out more and place an order!
